M. V. Muthiah Government Arts College for women owes its origin to a generous philanthropic feat of three sons of late M.V. MUTHIAH PILLAI of Anguvilas establishment of Dindigul down.  Inspired by a deep desire to provide higher education to the backward and inadequately women of the area, their three sons of the late industrialist made available 40 acres of land for starting a women college at the place.  They also donated an amount of one lakh rupees for the same purpose.  It was a good incentive for the government to come forwarded and start the present Arts College for the Women..  So it was named after him. Due to the continuous nurturing by the Government of Tamilnadu and the benevolent donor, it has steadily developed into one of the most-sought-after Arts Colleges within a short span.
